See the largest gathering of elephants in Asia

As the dry season begins and the monsoon waters recede, fresh green grass begins to grow along the banks of the giant lakes in Sri Lanka. It is at two of these well-known manmade lakes, Minneriya & Kaudulla that one of the world’s greatest wildlife spectacles occurs, right here on the tiny island of Sri Lanka.

Join us on a journey of a lifetime to see hundreds of elephants gather at dusk along the foreshore of the lake, young ones playing while mothers are busy feeding on the fresh blades of grass. A lone tusker magnificently stepping through the fields to the water to drink water silhouetted against the deep crimson of the setting sun. It’s a joy to witness these gentle giants in their natural habitat, so don’t miss this chance as it rolls around only once every year!

 Highlights:

Please note that the gathering usually takes place between March – November, when the water levels of the two tanks are low.  The elephants migrate to Hurulu Eco Park when these two parks get flooded.
