Magical boat ride Sigiriya
One of the ancient cities of the world, Sigiriya has been continually inhabited since the 3rdcentury B.C. Many of the ancient irrigation works which made Sigiriya legendary still remain, including old ‘wevas’ or lakes which were used to irrigate the many thousands of paddy-fields which sustained the ancient kingdom.
Take a serene boat ride on one of the main lakes which dot the Sigiriya landscape and fully appreciate the breathtaking natural beauty of this ancient land. A perfect excursion for birders, wildlife and nature lovers, guests can enjoy the tranquil surroundings of giant Kumbuk trees, tropical forest, beautiful lily fields alive with water birds, raptors and small mammals like the cheeky grey langurs, toque macaque and the giant squirrel.
